SQLManager.net has developed the greatest SQL Manager I've ever used. It kills the SQL IDE's that come with both SQL 2000 and 2005 (Enterprise Manager). One of the biggest features for me is that it lets you connect to both SQL Server 2000 and 2005. Best of all - there is a freeware version available! I'm not sure what features are missing in the freeware version as I'm using the 30 day free trial.
Anyhow - enjoy!

If you're using MySQL and you're looking for a sweet editor, check out Navicat.

I've just recently bought it and I'm loving using it compared with using the Standard MySQL Query Browser.
I believe there is also a free edition for this product.
If your using MySQL the build-in command line client is your best friend. You don't really need anything else.
But I totally agree if you want a gui Navicat is the best Windows has to offer.
